a tribute to my school (part 2)

theres a close relationship between michaelians and balls. our beloved ex-principal mr. louis once said during an assembly,

" whenever you are free and you want to play football or basketball, just come to my office and i will give you the balls. michaelians must always have balls. " (or something similar, it was 3 years ago and my memory isn't that good nowadays)

in our class, 5sc3, we were always finding opportunities to just get out of class and play football in the padang. whenever a teacher was absent, majority of the class would sort of force alif, our assistant monitor to get permission which would allow us to run loose on the field.
we usually got what we wanted, possibly because of the collateral damage which would result from us kicking the ball around in the class. our class had all sorts of self-proclaimed football superstars. we had the malaysian version of the fat ronaldo ( dhilip), van nistelrooy (teik tzuan), peter crouch (panjang mior), del piero ( kenny), the slow riquelme( yik yang), jose antonio reyes ( john), cristiano ronaldo! (wee) and so on. well, the others didn't really glamorize themselves a lot compared to these bunch of guys. shame on you guys. tsk tsk.

oh yea,associated with every sport are of coz the violent injuries that are sometimes experienced by the poor players.

accident 1) teik tzuan has his lip busted, and tooth bent inwards. the story goes like this, teik is running for the ball, from the opposite direction, an innocent younger chap is running for another ball ( our padang is sometimes overcrowded). kapow!!!! teik knocks into the poor kid. teik's teeth marks are visible on the other guys head. teik shouts " hoarghh!!!". we ignore him, instead we try to find teik's tooth which we assumed was jammed into the other guy's forehead. alas, it isn't there.thank goodness. poor teik gets up on his own to wash his bloody mouth. both get sent to the hospital and make a full recovery. up till this day, the other kid (wahdi syazri or something) has a tooth shaped scar on his forehead . and we have a good laugh about teik for the next week or so. the only regret was that we didn't take a picture of the scar or teik's bent tooth. it miraculously bent itself back on its own a few days later.

accident 2) same scenario. 2 players collide after running towards each other in pursuit of 2 balls. this time, the victim was azhar. the perpetrator, a humongous rugby player who was training in the field. azhar's ear gets a nasty tear from behind. we thought he was knocked out. fortunately,he turned out to be fine.he uses this as an excuse to skip school for more days than required for his recovery. respect you man.casualty : azhar's glasses.




lesson to be learned from this : if you wanna play football safely in the st. michael's field, dominate the whole thing! don't let others get the chance to get within striking distance of you. stay tuned for part 3..
